Better statistics & your professional dashboard on desktop

Here’s something every marketer is excited about, I think: Instagram is improving their analytics tool so you can get better insight into your account’s performance. What’s changed?

You can now view data up to 90 days old, instead of 30 or 60 days old.
You can now view statistics on desktop, previously this was only possible in the Instagram app on your phone.
More insight into who your posts reach. Divided into popular places, popular countries, age categories and gender. You can view the same  email data data about your followers. Handy! By the way, you

More insight into interactions: You can see an instant overview of your most popular posts and most popular reels.
Starting December 13, 2024, you will no longer be able to follow hashtags. This also means that posts from hashtags you  better statistics & your professional dashboard on desktop follow will no longer appear in your feed. Hashtags will still be available to categorize content and help you find content via search and the Discover page.

I do wonder if Instagram is slowly phasing out the hashtag system this way. The platform is also increasingly relying on their own algorithm to personalize user experiences, marketing list   so who knows, they might eventually abandon hashtags altogether.

On Threads (also from Meta) it is no longer possible to add multiple hashtags to your messages. You can add a topic with the hash (#), which is shown as a clickable word in your message.

6. Algorithm changes

There have also been algorithm changes again, which Adam Mosseri (the head of Instagram) talks about extensively in several videos on his Instagram account .

7. Teen Accounts
They are heavily advertised and you may have seen or heard about them: teen accounts on Instagram. What are they for? To protect teens from excessive screen use and harmful messages. That ‘news’ about Princess Ariane having bad eyesight due to screen use must have come in handy now.
